Girl's Chill Out Day

For the first week since I moved to Wellington, we had a proper weekend with nothing to do... we still went to the office for a little while of course – it’s an addiction! But for most of it we were strolling down Cuba St. It was the first time we actually got to see the street properly with no particular destination or purpose in mind. This meant we could do some discovering.

So it was Vaish and me doing Cuba Street. We found some really funky clothes shops, gift shops, shops with nice jewellery. And all at quite reasonable prices! I don’t think we’ll be going to Glasson’s again very soon.

It was so much fun! And we finished off with a milkshake at Fidel’s. Mmmm mmm.

On a more observatory note: Lambton Quay and Cuba Street are very different. Even the people dress differently. On Lambton Qy everyone dresses like they do in all other cities in New Zealand – “normal” clothes from mainstream retail outlets.

Cuba St. on the other hand is a totally different world! Bright, patterned prints, shin-high boots and long sweeping skirts with pants underneath. It’s the 70s relived. You would think it was two different cities. The shops also cater to this type of street wear. We visited some of the ones that Ying was raving about when she came down for July Forum. Ziggurats, Fruitti and lots of others!

So that was our Saturday.

And today? Vaish made us a yummy Indian lunch and I updated the look of my Blog – isn’t it pretty now?!

Weeeeeeekends!

Hehe I'm picturing you guys walking away with the same crazy amount of shopping bags that Ying did during MCWD. I'd think that having to walk up that monster hill back to the MC flat would deter people from buying alot down in the city, but by the sound of your blog you enjoyed it too much hehe.

Can't wait for Jan forum to hop back down to windy windy windy Wellington =p
