generations... Y?

yesterday I was on the bus overhearing three middle-aged women talk about the new generation - there were many students on the bus and maybe they thought I couldn't understand English...

Amongst other things their comments were: (They= new generation)
- They don't know how to start polite conversations
- They don't care about anything except themselves
- They just want to do things quickly and don't know how to cook proper meals
- They don't care about the Environment and don't know how to look after it.

Even if all of the above were "true" to a certain extent (all right, so we don't know how to fill tins with baking, just chocolate brownies) the last one really pricked my ears.

The current state of the Environment was a long time in the making. This generation was still in primary and high school when the World was being turned into an oven. What say did we have in this?

Generation gaps. Perhaps we need to understand the last generation, not just the new generation. What are they really thinking??

'm feeling a little down... I just read PostSecrets introduced in Edith's blog then Devrim's blog about war journalists ='(
