Christmas and another year...

This year's Christmas was simple and enjoyable.

My parents came from Hamilton to spend it with me. It was an opportunity for them to get away from Hamilton and see Wellington City properly for the first time. I have photos, haha, but I am feeling lazy to put them up right now.

On Christmas Eve we, Kristi and I, went to Ray's apartment to share it with JP and his flatmate - big turkey and lots of roast veges... lots of wine and green tea! We played Cluedo until midnight. Haven't played board games for so long - it was fun!

Then my parents arrived and we went to the Botanical gardens - small and quaint - followed by yummy Chinese roast duck and pork. Simple dinner on Christmas day unlike past Christmases - rushing around. I don't think I would have been able to handle another turkey!

On Boxing Day I attended an engagement of two old AIESEC members - Brendan and Emma (Congratulations!). I was at the conference where they met each other... all those years ago. I was so happy to be able to share in their engagement and the wedding will be a big occasion since Brendan's family is so big! OMG, AIESEC babies...

The girls, Simone and Kristi, are now hooked on a Korean TV series, Lovers in Paris, which I spent a lot of free time watching as well. Nikita will be hooked when she gets back, I bet. My parents also loved it - mum more than dad. My dad cooked, my mum watched TV - that's where I get my sense of social order from ;) so boys should be afraid, I will make you cook! The soundtrack for the series just arrived in the post and I'm listening to it now. Yes, I can be a sentimental, hopeless romantic.

With engagements and sappy Korean dramas, it turned out to be a very romantic Christmas. Even though there was the urge, we didn't watch Love Actually at all ;)

generations... Y?

yesterday I was on the bus overhearing three middle-aged women talk about the new generation - there were many students on the bus and maybe they thought I couldn't understand English...

Amongst other things their comments were: (They= new generation)
- They don't know how to start polite conversations
- They don't care about anything except themselves
- They just want to do things quickly and don't know how to cook proper meals
- They don't care about the Environment and don't know how to look after it.

Even if all of the above were "true" to a certain extent (all right, so we don't know how to fill tins with baking, just chocolate brownies) the last one really pricked my ears.

The current state of the Environment was a long time in the making. This generation was still in primary and high school when the World was being turned into an oven. What say did we have in this?

Generation gaps. Perhaps we need to understand the last generation, not just the new generation. What are they really thinking??

'm feeling a little down... I just read PostSecrets introduced in Edith's blog then Devrim's blog about war journalists ='(

big burger...

What can eight people with lots of beer, 120 slices of beef and 120 slices of cheese do in their summer time?

Yay, now I don't have to try that myself ;) thanks Huy.

Chris and Mel were there too! Only as supporters, very smart.

Where to...

Sydney | Hamilton | Auckland | Hong Kong?

The choices we have to make in our lives at this time of the year are great and so exciting.

Where should I go?

Before I go on my internship, I would like to choose a place to reside for six months, relax for a while and save money for my next big adventure. The options above are just some of the places that I could go to where I have friends or family. I would like to spend some more time with them before I go...

For savings, Sydney is the best.
For family, I need to go to Hamilton or Auckland.
Or maybe I want to go to Hong Kong.
